A: All motorists, when applying for or renewing their Colorado drives license, are given the opportunity to make a contribution to the Emily Maureen Keyes Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Fund. The fund was created in 1996 by the Colorado State Legislature to increase organ and tissue donation in our state. In 2007, the Fund was extended to 2018.
Contributions to the Fund go directly to the Donor Awareness Council, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization whose sole purpose is to increase organ and tissue donation through public education and awareness.
