Press Release:
Donor Awareness Council Appoints New Executive Director
DENVER (November 3, 2005) The Donor Awareness Council announced today the appointment of Charlene Hill as executive director. The Donor Awareness Council is a nonprofit coalition formed in 1989 to increase organ and tissue donation through public education and awareness. Its service area includes Colorado and Wyoming.
In making the announcement, Jessica Maitland, the council's board president, said Hill brings a solid history of leadership to the growing organization. “We are excited to have someone of Charlene's caliber leading the team. Her experience, knowledge and leadership will provide focused management of the day-to-day activities of the organization and will help drive our vision of making eye, organ and tissue donation a community standard."
Prior to this appointment, Hill was an independent consultant for the Denver Public Schools' Task Force on Early Education and School Readiness. She developed collaborative relationships and supported the work of a 25-member task force in developing effective policies for universal preschool programs in metropolitan Denver. Hill was also executive vice-president for the Urban League of Metropolitan Denver, and served for a time as interim CEO.
A native of New Jersey, Hill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, tennis, biking and engaging in volunteer activities. A Colorado resident for 24 years, Hill resides in Aurora with her husband and daughter.
